Tropical Storm Laura, which has been downgraded from a hurricane, made landfall early Thursday morning in Cameron, Louisiana - just 35 miles east of the Texas-Louisiana border - as a Category 4 storm with 150 mph winds.
Just because Marco weakened to a tropical storm doesn't mean the Big Easy can breathe a big sigh of relief. Marco could cause flooding in Louisiana, and Laura could thrash several coastal states.
The “one-two punch” of hurricanes has created a heightened sense of alarm along the Gulf Coast. Officials warned residents they might have to shelter in place for as long as 72 hours.
