An attorney for the 16 Montana youth who sued the state alleging their constitutional rights to a clean and healthful environment have been violated by the state said in their closing trial arguments Tuesday the state had not shown any compelling state interest as to why it should be allowed to continue ignoring greenhouse gas emissions from energy projects moving forward.
Environmentalists are hoping that a trial, due to begin October 29, will explain to the public how the government has known for decades about the dangers of fossil fuels but failed to act on this knowledge.
