Travelers to Oslo, Norway can expect to move around fossil fuel-free by next year, when the city plans to unveil the world’s first fully electric public transit system.
Oslo Municipality asked residents to try and save water on Monday to try and prevent drought measures from being introduced in the Norwegian capital later on.
With its relatively safe roads for walkers and cyclists, Norway’s capital is doing better than 35 other cities ranked by their efforts to create pollution-free transportation.
The city is planning to be a zero-emitting city by 2030 and is using a “carbon budget” to lower the amount it can use every year until then. It’s encouraging other cities to do the same.
